Summer isn’t over yet but, it’s definitely time to start back-to-school shopping; new clothes, new notebooks and pens, and probably even a haircut. For those of us that will not be strolling the school halls this fall, there are other things that we need to keep in mind. With school in session and sports running until late in the day, there are bound to be changes in traffic flow, especially if you live near a school or sports field. Knowing this, it’s a good idea to try leaving a little bit earlier in the morning (starting in September) to account for school buses and drop-off lines.
Additionally, there will probably be higher than normal amounts of children walking and biking to and from school. This means that it’s critical to be especially cautious when driving through suburban areas, near crosswalks and even where kids may cross without crosswalks. Stay alert to what’s happening around you and try to be thinking one step ahead of your fellow drivers and nearby pedestrians.
