Cover yourself with more than a Costume this Halloween!

Halloween is right around the corner and whether you’ve selected your costume yet or are still deciding, here are some ways to keep your costume safe (especially for kids!). Here are some Halloween costume safety tips from the CDC to keep everybody safe this Halloween without ruining anyone’s dream disguise:

  1. Any weapon-like accessories to a costume should be short, soft and flexible.
  2. Reflectors and bright colors help drivers see your costume better; attach them to your bag and clothes
  3. Test make-up and body paint in a small place before applying everywhere and be sure to wash it off before you go to sleep
  4. Try to avoid decorative contact lenses, they can cause serious eye injury
  5. Be sure that your costume and any masks or footwear fit properly. This lowers your risk for trips and falls.
  6. Flame-resistant materials are best because of the open flames associated with jack-o-lanterns, luminaries and candles. Try to avoid walking near these regardless.

Staying safe is extremely important and will ensure that everyone has fun on Halloween.  If you plan to be handing out treats or having festive get-togethers, make sure that you are protected when it comes to MA Home Insurance  and MA Umbrella Insurance as well.
