By now, everyone has probably seen one of ABC’s hit shows The Biggest Loser or one of the countless other shows geared toward life-altering pound shedding. Likely, this has become motivation to make even small adjustments to your own lifestyle. The issue for most people is they don’t know the little secrets behind weight loss, such as when to avoid temptation and when to embrace it. Another major issue for most of America is time and stress which can both be handled with a little practice. Also, staying lean and keeping your midsection small has more benefits than just simply looking good, it can actually prolong your life (and even lower your MA Life Insurance premium!) Not to mention, people who reduced their weight loss by 10% have saved up to $5,300 on medical care coverage !
So here are some easy weight loss tips for the average everyday busy American:
- Stop going out to eat all the time! Yes, everyone enjoys the experience of going out to eat, and being catered to, but often this is half the cause of weight gain due to oversized portions and unhealthy food preparations. You’ll probably even save some money!
- 2. Drink More Water! By upping your water consumption it teaches your body to retain less water, because it is reassured that more water will be coming soon.
- 3. Let it go! Less stress = Less Cravings: It is believed due to recent studies that stress causes the release of a hormone named Cortisol which can cause the brain to feel more cravings.
- 4. Try some negative calorie snacks: Some foods actually burn more calories in the digestive process than they actually contain a few examples of these foods are celery and lettuce.
- 5. Pump up the Protein! Some feel the need to temporarily become a vegetarian to lose some weight, but this could actually hurt you more than help! Studies show that proteins can make your body feeling full for the longest period time throughout the day, so stick with some lean meats such as fish, chicken, and turkey (try and stay away from processed deli meats with a high sodium concentrate).
- 6. Keep your mouth minty fresh: It is believed by experts that people are less likely to surrender to cravings if they have a minty taste in their mouth, because they don’t want to ruin their fresh breath!
- 7. Get Active! Depending on the size of your weight loss goal you have to perform a proportionate amount of exercise. Whether it is a matter of waking up and going to the gym every day, or just trying to lose a few pounds by doing pushups and sit ups during commercials at night something is better than nothing!
