I only just graduated from UCONN (Go Huskies!) this past August and I couldn’t wait to enter the real world. Things fell into place relatively quickly too; I got my first real job, I got a new car, and it was the first time that I felt truly independent…sort of. I was still living with my parents and as much as I love them and appreciate what they’ve done for me, I still felt that I needed to be on my own. But I just got my first apartment and I am so excited! I am in the process of unpacking all my stuff and I love going through it all, finding each kitchen tool, book, or towel its own little niche. I also appreciate the independence that comes with living on my own. I even like the financial independence, though I am sure that will wear off sooner rather than later.
Now that I have my independence and a place to call my own, I am pretty sure that I would be devastated if something were to happen to the building or my things inside; devastated at the loss, yes, but even more so with the prospect of having to come up with the money to replace everything.
