The Right Boat Insurance Can Make ALL the Difference!

It’s about that time again…you’ve been waiting all winter to get out on the water and feel the wind blowing through your hair and you finally can (though it might be a little chilly yet). Maybe you use your boat for fishing, or for leisurely cruising the coast and island-hopping, or maybe for a more fast-paced kind of recreation like water skiing, tubing and wake boarding. Whatever you use it for, you won’t be able to fully enjoy yourself until you know that you have the right Massachusetts Insurance coverage protecting you and your sea-faring friends. So before you put the boat in the water this year, there are some things for you to consider aside from the increased fuel costs and docking or permit fees.

  1. If you will be traveling to a new area with your boat this year or even if you are going where you’ve always gone, are you familiar with the boating laws and requirements there?
  2. Registration: Is your Registration up for renewal? Do you owe any Registration Fees? Is your boat trailer registered?
  3. Have you called to make sure that your Massachusetts Boat Insurance is up-to-date and covering your watercraft appropriately?
    1. Are you familiar with the different coverage that your boat insurance can provide you with? i.e. Medical Payments Coverage, Physical Damage Coverage & Liability Coverage.
  4. Have you checked to make sure that you have enough life jackets and that they meet the appropriate PFD requirements for Massachusetts?
  5. Do you have enough fuel in your tank for your day’s trip? You don’t want to get stranded!

The rest of the week into the beginning of next week is supposed to be quite rainy, now might be the time to get everything in order so that when that warm, sunny day finally arrives all you need to do is throw on your Top-Siders© and get in the car!
