This winter was brutal this year; one of the worst ever recorded, and while you were sitting inside sipping hot chocolate your car was outside enduring the harsh conditions. Even though everyone likes to ignore the fact that there car needs intermittent repairs and inspections, especially if there aren’t any major issues with it currently, sometimes it’s these small preventative repairs that pay the biggest dividends in the long run. Make sure that your car is ready for this upcoming summer season, and that it hasn’t had any big blows from this past winter that could really run up your bill in the future.
You may want to get your car into the shop to make any necessary repairs as soon as possible, because everyone is starting to get back their tax returns and could probably use that money to pay for their repairs and maybe put some aside for this year’s Massachusetts Insurance. Also when demand is high at auto body shops the can charge you more for your work because they’re not afraid of losing your business. If you bring your car in before the rush (i.e. the beginning or end of the month when people are getting their MA State Inspections done) it will give you a much higher bargaining power, when you’re negotiating prices. It can be dangerous as well, to put off these repairs for too long, and not to mention, extremely costly.
Here are a few tips and precautions you should take before getting back on the road this spring:
- Have a thorough diagnostic inspection performed on your car, at a reliable mechanic shop
- Make sure your MA Auto Insurance policy is up to date
- Check your oil
- Check your tires, with a tire gauge
- Vacuum and wash your car
- Make sure to go around the car and check all hoses and belts or ask a mechanic to do it for you (especially if you are unsure what you are looking for).
